Inside my Therapist Library
What’s on my therapist shelf (and why you might want it on yours too).
One of the questions I get most as a therapist is:
“What books do you recommend?”
So I built a curated Amazon list of the ones I actually keep on my shelf—the ones I lend out, quote in session, and return to when I need inspiration, insight, or a reminder of why this work matters.

Here are five of my current go-tos:
📘 The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk
A foundational text on trauma. This book explores how trauma reshapes the brain and body—and what healing can look like. I recommend it often to clients and clinicians alike.
📕 Attached by Amir Levine & Rachel Heller
If you’ve ever struggled to understand relationship dynamics, this is your crash course. It breaks down attachment styles in a way that’s easy to grasp and incredibly validating.
🏋️♂️ Mind Gym by Gary Mack
A must-read for athletes and high performers. It blends sports psychology with mindset strategies to help sharpen mental toughness and build confidence from the inside out.
🎲 Games Criminals Play by Bud Allen & Diana Bosta
Essential reading for anyone working in forensic or correctional settings. This book outlines the manipulative tactics often used by inmates and teaches how to maintain ethical, professional boundaries.
💡 Atomic Habits by James Clear
Behavior change 101. This book offers practical, science-backed strategies for building better habits—whether you're trying to shift your own routines or help clients implement sustainable change.
That’s just a glimpse into my therapist brain-on-a-bookshelf.
